The questions we get most often about what Prudents publishes, and what to do when the answer has to come from somewhere else.

Does Prudents sell insurance?

No. Prudents is not an insurance company, an agency, or a broker. We do not sell policies, we are not licensed to advise on them, and we are not paid by insurers. What we publish is educational: articles that explain how a coverage is built and which words in the contract decide a claim.

Why do the articles never name the best insurer?

Because a best insurer for you depends on your state, your property, your history, and the exact form the insurer uses, and we cannot see any of that. A ranking would also be the easiest thing in the world to sell, which is precisely why we do not publish one. Each article gives you the comparison criteria instead, so you can apply them to the quotes in front of you.

Can I rely on an article instead of reading my policy?

No, and the articles say so. An article describes what a coverage usually does. Your contract describes what your coverage actually does, including the limits, the deductible, the exclusions, and the duties you have after a loss. When the two disagree, the contract wins. Read the declarations page and the policy form, and ask the insurer to explain in writing anything you do not understand.

Where do the facts in an article come from?

From public consumer material published by bodies such as the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, state insurance departments, and federal agencies. Every article ends with a list of the pages we consulted, with links, so you can check a statement yourself rather than take our word for it.

I think an article is wrong. What do I do?

Write to [email protected] and say which page and which sentence. We check it against the source. If we got it wrong, we fix the text and update the page, and a correction that changes the meaning of the article is noted on the page.

Can I use your material with my family, my class, or my team?

Yes. Reading, printing for your own use, sharing a link, and quoting a short passage with credit are all fine. For a training session, a classroom, or a campaign, write to us first. In most cases we say yes, at no cost. What is not allowed is republishing a whole article elsewhere, reselling it, or using our name in a way that suggests a partnership that does not exist.

My claim was denied. Can you help?

Not directly, and we will not pretend otherwise. We do not review claims, appeal denials, or contact an insurer for anyone. Ask the insurer for the denial in writing with the policy language it relies on, then take that letter to your state insurance department, which handles consumer complaints for free. A licensed professional or an attorney is the right next step if the amount is significant.

Do you have articles in other languages?

Prudents started in Portuguese, and the Brazilian site is larger and covers fraud and scams. If you read Portuguese, the language selector in the top bar takes you there. Spanish is not available yet.

Nobody from Prudents will ask you for this

We never ask for a password, a verification code, a photo of a document, a payment, or remote access to your device. Our only support address is [email protected]. Anything that arrives from another address, another phone number, or a social media profile claiming to be Prudents is not us.
